Legislation introduced to replace 30-year old Dependent Adults Act

Bill 24, the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act, was introduced in the Alberta Legislature on June 2 and has been referred to the all-party Standing Committee on Health. The proposed legislation is the result of a review that included a consultation with over 4,300 Albertans.

The responsibilities of the Office of the Public Guardian are governed under the following acts and regulations. (No person may use, reproduce, store or transmit copies of legislation for any purpose other than personal use without the consent of the Alberta Queen's Printer.)

The Final Report and Recommendations of the Legislative Review of the Dependent Adults Act and the Personal Directives Act is now complete.
