Guardianship Self-Help Kits for a Dependent Adult

If you have decided to apply for guardianship of a person or if you are having your current guardianship reviewed, you will be required to go to Court in Alberta.

You can prepare an application for guardianship yourself by using our free self-help kit, or you can hire a lawyer to prepare an application for you.

There are two self-help kits available. They are designed for people who wish to apply for guardianship (or for a review of guardianship) without hiring a lawyer. You can access the kits below, or obtain them free from the Public Guardian or any local Community Involvement Program.

There are two parts to each kit. The first part describes the steps you need to follow. The second part contains the Court forms that you will need to complete.
