This is an exciting time to be a senior!
With the baby boomers beginning their transition into their senior years, the number of seniors will more than double in the next 20 years. In fact, 65 Albertans turn 65 every day. And these Albertans are continually redefining what it means to be a senior.
Seniors, whether they live in cities, towns, villages or out in the country, are part of the vital fabric that makes up our communities. There are so many ways in which seniors contribute to the lives of their families, communities, and this province.
So, please join me, along with countless other Albertans, to celebrate all seniors in this province during Alberta’s Seniors’ Week 2012. As there are many different definitions of what it means to be a “senior,” there will be just as many different events for you to take part in.
From June 4 – 10, I invite you to connect with people in your community and around the province to celebrate seniors and all they mean to you.
I look forward to hearing about all of the creative ways Albertans will celebrate seniors this June!
