Number of Senior Households Rises with Growth in the Number of Seniors
According to the 2006 Census, there were 214,760 private households in Alberta in which the primary homeowner was aged 65 years or older. (Note: The primary homeowner is the first person in the household identified as being the household maintainer. It is normally the person who contributes the greatest amount towards shelter expenses.) This is an increase of around 14% from 2001.
