In Memory of Board Member Dr. Douglas Wayne Fleming
On January 16th, 2012 Dr. Douglas Wayne Fleming passed away.
The Northeast Region Community Board for PDD would like to acknowledge his work and contributions in the following areas:
- Self Advocacy – “the potential in the individual”
- Community Inclusion
- Inclusive Post Secondary Education
- Inclusive Employment Initiatives
- Special Olympics
- Board Governance
Dr. Fleming was a valued board member in board decisions and was respected for his balanced perspective and calm and rational demeanor. He always brought and humor and enthusiasm to the board table. Dr. Fleming was a team player who did not want the limelight though he so graciously deserved it on many occasions.
As Dr. Fleming would so often say “That would be true”.
The Northeast Region Community Board for PDD, staff, individuals, and families will forever be touched by the contribution Dr. Douglas Wayne Fleming made to the Northeast region.
