PDD Central Region Community Board Recognition Program

Support to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families requires the contribution and commitment of many people.

The PDD Central Region Community Board Community Recognition Program celebrates the contribution, dedication, commitment and service of individuals, businesses and other organizations in supporting persons with developmental disabilities.

We are now calling for nominations for the 2012-year in the following five categories:

Doreen Befus Self-Advocacy Award

This award recognizes an adult with a developmental disability whose actions have made communities more welcoming for people with developmental disabilities. Acrobat PDF Document Doreen Befus Self-Advocacy Award Nomination Form.

Doreen Befus Individual Leadership Award

This award recognizes an adult with a developmental disability who, through his or her achievements, has inspired others with developmental disabilities to become community leaders. Acrobat PDF Document Doreen Befus Individual Leadership Award Nomination Form.

Ed Johnston Community Citizenship Award

This award recognizes community members, businesses or organizations that have demonstrated leadership in creating communities that welcome adults with developmental disabilities as participating citizens. Acrobat PDF Document Ed Johnston Community Citizenship Award Nomination Form.

Community Disability Service Sector Leadership Award

This award recognizes an organization or individual that has improved the delivery of services for adults with developmental disabilities. Acrobat PDF Document Community Disability Service Sector Leadership Award Nomination Form.

Gayle Moss Family Leadership Award

This award recognizes a family who has demonstrated leadership in developing welcoming communities. Acrobat PDF Document Gayle Moss Family Leadership Award Nomination Form.

Individuals wishing to make a nomination are asked to complete the appropriate nomination form(s) and submit to the PDD Central Region Community Board office.

The deadline for submissions is March 30.

The Board may select, from all of the nominations in each category, one person or group to receive special recognition as the recipient of the year. The winner in each category will be nominated for the corresponding provincial award, which will be presented in the fall.
