If you are not happy with a PDD decision, you can appeal it. A Client Services Coordinator can help you understand the steps in this process.
There are three levels of appeal:
Before starting an appeal, talk to the person who made the decision to make sure they had all the facts they needed for a good decision. If they did not have all the important information before, they may change their mind. If not, you can ask Calgary Region PDD’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to look at all the facts and make a new decision. Your Client Services Coordinator can tell you how to do this. The CEO will send you the new decision in writing and tell you the reasons for the decision.
If you are still not happy with the decision, you can ask to have it reviewed by the Calgary Region Community Board Dispute Resolution and Review Committee. This committee is made up of members of the Calgary PDD Board. You can ask your Client Services Coordinator to help you with the paper work. Mail your request to:
The Chairperson
Persons with Developmental Disabilities
Calgary Region Community Board
#400, 1520 - 4th Street SW
Calgary, Alberta T2R 1H5
The committee will meet to hear your concerns. Then they will make a decision and let you know in writing.
You also have the right to appeal to the Provincial Government body that is responsible for PDD. The Calgary PDD committee can tell you how to take the next step if you are not happy with their decision.
