- The PDD program supports about 9,300 adults with developmental disabilities.
- In 2009, the Government department, Alberta Seniors and Community Supports, made changes to make PDD better.
- PDD made these changes to make sure it listens and helps people with what they need.
- PDD wants the life for people who get help from them to be good and to make sure PDD will be there for lots of years.
- The changes in PDD will help make sure:
- People will know how PDD works and services PDD will pay for
- PDD will be fair and the same all over Alberta
- PDD will help different needs and do good things for people
- The program will be good with its time and money
- PDD will be there for lots of years
- The Minister of Alberta Seniors and Community Supports asked the leaders of PDD Community Boards to have their Boards work together better, and to work better with agencies.
Getting Organized
- PDD wants its work to be useful, and organized.
- PDD believes that being responsible for providing good supports is important.
- It is very important to make sure that the PDD program will last for many years.
- These next rules will help the PDD program become more useful and organized. PDD will:
- follow the new Mission and Main Jobs
- be the same across Community Boards and try to make things fair
- be careful about how they use their money
- keep track and tell people how they are doing
- make changes that will help PDD last for many years.
