Minister's Seniors Service Awards

The Minister’s Seniors Service Awards recognize Albertans who volunteer their time to make a difference in the lives of seniors. Individuals and organizations are eligible for the awards, which were presented at a special ceremony on June 3 during Seniors’ Week.

Now in its 12th year, the Minister’s Seniors Service Awards have recognized more than 65 recipients. The nomination submission deadline for the 2009 awards was February 27, 2009.

A nomination Review Committee, appointed by the Minister of Seniors and Community Supports, reviewed the nominations and forwarded recommendations to the Minister. The Minister then selected the final recipients.

Evaluation and Selection Process

Volunteer service in the nominations was evaluated based on:

  • Impact on seniors and community
  • Need for the service provided
  • Quality and diversity
  • Originality

The awards were presented by the Minister at a special ceremony in June during Seniors’ Week 2009. The names of the recipients and a biography of their service to seniors were announced in a news release on the day of the awards ceremony. Link to External Site The news release is available here.
