Tim Wiles
Deputy Minister of Seniors and Community Supports
Tim Wiles is the Deputy Minister of Seniors and Community Supports. His appointment was effective February 27, 2006.
Prior to becoming Deputy Minister, Tim was the provincial government's Controller. While in that position, he also served a period of time as Acting Chief Internal Auditor.
Tim has nearly two decades of public service experience, having worked in various positions at Finance. His experience includes leading teams responsible for managing the provincial budget and business planning process, overseeing ministry performance measurement standards, and reporting the financial position of the Alberta Government.
He also played a role in a review of the governance of provincial agencies, boards, and commissions, was a member of the Alberta Public Service Pension Plan Board, and served as co-chair of the cross-ministry Senior Financial Officers' Council.
Tim, a chartered accountant, was employed at a national accounting firm prior to joining the Alberta Public Service. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and has also completed training through the Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Banff School of Advanced Management.
Tim is married with two children. He is a sports enthusiast and participates in a variety of summer and winter activities, including coaching his son's hockey team.
