International Day of Disabled Persons

The Premier's Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities

In 1992, the United Nations proclaimed December 3 as International Day of Disabled Persons. Recognition of this day aims to increase awareness and understanding of persons with disabilities and the issues that impact their lives.

Albertans will recognize International Day of Disabled Persons in a variety of ways, including special ceremonies in Edmonton and Calgary, and presentation of the Premier's Council Awards of Excellence.
